Self made Organic Cat Food Recipes
If you want your cat to live a healthy life and have plenty of energy, then you should definitely think of feeding organic food to your cat. Organic cat food available in the market is not trustworthy as it usually contains fillers and non-organic beef or chicken.
Making organic cat food at home by following organic cat food recipes is quite an easy task. Preparing organic food at home gives you complete control over the selection of ingredients and the cooking process. You also have the freedom to alter the ingredients used each week to bring a tasteful change in the form of an overall cooked meal for your cat. Let’s look at some organic cat food recipes that can be prepared at home.
Raw Organic Cat Food Recipes:
Feline Feast
You can change the basic types of grains and meat used in this organic cat food recipe. This will also change the variety of nutrients in the overall diet.
- 2 Tbs bone meal or 4000 mg calcium or 2-1/4 tsp eggshell (finely ground)
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups either cooked millet, cooked rolled oats, or cooked brown rice
- 2 lbs (= 4 cups) ground free-range turkey or chicken (or lean chuck, lean hamburger or other lean meats).
- 2 Tbs olive oil or flaxseed oil
- 500 mg taurine (optional)
- 10,000 i.u. vitamin A
- 100-200 i.u. vitamin E
- 1 tsp fresh vegetable with each meal (such as finely grated carrot, zucchini, yellow squash or peas)
Mix egg into the cooked grain. If the cooked grain is hot, let it cool slightly. Mix in the remaining ingredients. Separate the portion that will be eaten in next 2-3 days. Freeze the rest of the portion immediately. You can also freeze single serve portions. This will make the process of thawing and serving food easier for you.
Cooked Organic Cat Food Recipe:
Stew For Cats
- 2 cups brown rice
- 6 stalks celery
- 1 cup of green peas
- 1 whole chicken, preferably free range or packaged with “no hormones or antibiotics” on the label
- 6 carrots, scrubbed but not peeled
- 2 yellow squash
- handful of green beans
- 2 zucchini
The chicken should be thoroughly washed and cleaned. Put chicken in large stew pot, add water and cover it with a lid. Cut vegetables into pieces and add them to pot. Add rice. Cook until chicken separates from bones and all the vegetables are tender. Debone the chicken completely. The stew should be poured in a blender and chopped until mixture is bite-sized. Freeze the stew in single serve portions.
You should never add onions or garlic to your organic cat food recipes.
